Taking the Party Outside for the Perfect Outdoor Gathering

March 14th, 2010

Are you planning on hosting a graduation party or family gathering this summer? Does the thought of everyone walking through and dirtying up your home send chills down your back? Do what I did last summer and move your next big party outdoors under an instant canopy for a change. This way you won’t have all those people parading through your house. Plus, there is more room outside for guests to sit back and enjoy themselves. Outdoor or backyard parties can be a great time provided they are planned out. My neighbors throw one or two big parties every summer. The whole block comes over and hangs out, enjoying some good food under the pop up canopy and has a great time. It doesn’t come all together as soon as the pop up tent is put together. There is great deal of planning involved in throwing the ideal outdoor party. Most future party planners don’t realize that outdoor parties can range from the informal to very formal. You could throw a simple barbecue or cookout or hold a full-blown wedding and reception under an instant canopy right in your backyard. The type of event you are planning goes a long way in dictating the type of canopy tent and supplies you’ll want. Here are a few more tips that will be sure to have your guests asking you when your next party will be: Choose a good location – Preferably, you would choose a spot with a good mix of sun and shade. Make sure it has enough room for an instant canopy or multiple outdoor canopies if need be. Set some tables under the canopy tent and place umbrellas next to tables outside of the pop up tent to create shade in open areas. Keep your lawn neat – Think of the lawn as the outfit of your outdoor party. The days leading up to the party work on watering flowerbeds, trimming hedges, mowing the lawn. Spend a good deal of time cleaning up the lawn for the day of the party. You want the instant canopy sitting on it to look like a professional picture, don’t you? Plan the food menu – A few days before your party and before the pop up tent is setup, stop to think about the menu for your party. Don’t be afraid to ask if your guests have any special diet requirements. The best rule to follow is keep it simple. No one ever invites Mother Nature, but oh does she love to crash your summer party. One way to get around the unwelcome guest is by setting up some outdoor canopies. An instant canopy helps keeps your festivities going even during a small rain shower or two. Some outdoor canopies are even equipped with quick-snap sides to offer additional protection from strong winds or a driving rain. Most tent rental companies will transport and set up them up for you.

This summer I have a graduation party I have to organize. I read this article and I agree that the thought of having the party inside my house gives me chills through out my entire body. I have been trying to figure out a way to do it outside so there is less of a mess to clean up. Now you said that you used a “canopy”, is that the same things as a “tent”? what exactly would you recommend because I have been looking into http://www.a1tentsonline.com/ but I am still not quite sure. What would you recommend?
