So where do you start? There are invites to think about, a cake to make or buy; party games to focus on and much more besides.
Itâs no wonder that some people find planning a childrenâs party to be very hard work. But you can make life a lot easier by starting to plan ahead when you still have plenty of time to spare.
Start by making a list of all the things you need to do and buy for the party itself. A lot will depend on how old your child is. If they are of school age and will be inviting all their friends round, you will probably have more to do than if your child is about to celebrate their first birthday.
Consider where you will host the party as well. You might have more than one option available here depending on how many people are likely to be attending. The more kids you have to cater for, the less likely it is that you will be able to fit them all into your home.
You could always have a themed party if your child likes a particular type of toy or character. For example, pirate themed parties are very popular for boys and fairies are good for girls.
Donât forget the party bags either. These are actually a lot easier to do than you might think. You can buy them ready made up if you are running short on time, although it often works out cheaper to buy everything separately and make them up yourself. Regardless of how you do it you can buy different items to suit both the boys and the girls.
Another aspect worth thinking about is entertainment. You can do this yourself if you want to stick with classic party games like pass the parcel. But very often it can be worthwhile hiring a professional childrenâs entertainer for the afternoon.
Alternatively if the party is going to be held during the summer months you can think about hiring a bouncy castle or something similar for using outdoors. This is perfect if you have a sizeable garden as it will keep the kids out of the house! Think about other garden games as well; just set up the garden before everyone arrives and you will be ready to have some fun.
It doesnât matter whether you decide to have a themed party, an outdoor party or a childrenâs fancy dress party. In the end you want to plan a party that your child will remember for a long time to come. So stick to what they like and enjoy, invite all their friends, get those party bags ready and enjoy the day.
