Parents: Where do you begin planning your son/daughters birthday party?

February 28th, 2010

I am 13 and having a party combined with 3 other girls. We decided it would be Hawaiian themed, but other than that, nothing. I was wondering how you guys begin the party process. I don’t really want specifics for my party, but in general. Thanks in advance.

P.S. – If you are good at the party planning, please e-mail me and maybe we can talk more specific.

Ok so you agree on the theme.. that’s probably the hardest part there. Now you have to decide where you’re going to have the party, what day and what decorations you are going to use. You also need to figure out your meal plan. Will you have a dinner/lunch or will it just be cake/ice cream??? Organize a party invite list and get your invitations out. And you also need to think of what order you are going to do things that day and what you will be doing.(eg. 1.eat 2. open presents 3.play games, etc, etc… )

    Good Luck and HAVE FUN!!

The answer above is right on! But you also have to consider your budget! For my friend’s baby shower we only had $500 so we had to find someplace free to have it so we could order food and buy decorations and supplies. Her sister wanted it in this nice hall but we (the other girl involved and I) said no b/c then we wouldn’t be able to afford decent food. So basically what I’m saying is you have to decide what is really important and what is negotiable.

you have to have a theme

    food
budget also don’t want to spend too much for a 1 day event

    1. picked the day and time to have it (we had his party 3 days before his bday)
    2. found the place to hold it.
    3. picked the theme
    4. bought all the decorations, goody bags etc..
    5. gave out invitations (he invited his own kindergarten class! )
    6. decided on the cake (I made it at home, I make all the cakes for everyone around here)
    7. picked out the foods
    8. made the pinata
    9. picked out the music and games for the kids to play
