If you studied last week’s Gossip Girl episode, you know there’s strain brewing between S and B. Gossip Girl delves into the arena of upper-class privilege and wealth of prep faculty kids on Manhattan’s upper East Side — a world where secrets are hard to keep with the all-knowing Gossip Girl ( voiced by Kristen Bell ), a blogger with an unknown identity, following and recording their every move.
The upper East Side is thrown for a loop when Gossip Girl reports that Serena lorry der Woodsen ( Blake Lively ), Manhattan’s most scandalous party girl, has arrived back in the city after a mysterious absence where nobody knows where she was or why she left. Not even Serena’s closest pal, Blair Waldorf ( Leighton Meester ), knew her location and is shocked to learn Serena has returned. However , their once close friendship is complicated on Serena’s return, strained now that Serena is the middle of attention and Blair has been cast from the limelight, and the revelation that Serena had an affair with Blair’s husband Nate Archibald ( Chace Crawford ).
Also governing the higher East Side is Chuck Bass ( Ed Westwick ), son of the wealthy and potent Bart Bass and a buddy of Nate’s since childhood. Chuck leads a reckless life, which regularly leads Nate down a similar path of darkness and eradication.
finally there’s Dan Humphrey ( Penn Badgley ) and his sister Jenny ( Taylor Momsen ), middle-class youngsters on the outside looking in on the exclusive rich clique. Dan and Jenny are compelled to attend the high-school by their former rock star father, Rufus ( Matthew Settle ), who has a noisy past with Serena’s mother Lily lorry der Woodsen ( Kelly Rutherford ), a socialite with a secret past as a groupie. However, Dan and Serena’s worlds collide following a chance meeting where Dan quickly finds himself stepping out with the girl of his dreams. The closer they become, the more Dan learns about the genuine Serena and how different she is from the world in which she lives.
With all the ever-changing drama in the lives of the teenagers and adults alike, the ever-present Gossip Girl is always around to keep up on the complex and intriguing world.
Vanessa covers the backstage photos of the campaign and luckily gets photos of Tripp saving a stranger from drowning in the Hudson. Tripp’s campaign is saved! Coincidence? Nate thinks not, and Vanessa knows not. Will Nate sacrifice his friendship with Vanessa to save his cousin’s campaign? Nate has proved once that he puts family ahead of friends. His morals are at risk again, and Vanessa calls him on it.
Gossip Girl fans, I admit I’m warming up to the idea of Olivia being a Gossip Girl regular, though I don’t believe it’ll happen. Olivia makes appearance on Jimmy Fallon show and freaks out about Dan seeing it due to a humiliating story she tells. The Gossip Girl blasts are back, so will they blow her cover? Technology proves to not be on Olivia’s side, and Dan hurricanes out of a family board game marathon, much to Olivia’s dismay.
