It is very difficult. You need to take college classes.

i have know experience in the field, but you should probably start by asking friends or acquaintances or even friends of friends if you can plan or help plan their weddings, do so and make up a nice bussiness card and hand them out or something, just try and advertise yourself as much as possible

You need to become an assistant to a planner first. then you will be able to. People are very picky about their events and weddings are not goin to trust someone with no experience or training. Also havin a background in interior design will help. Look into an internship or assistant first they should also be able to give you help once they train you.

start by doing free-bies for your family and friends so you can get a feel for what is going on, if you do a good job people who go to the party will get interested in who organized the whole event. by doing this as well you can have a feel of the actual job and if you would consider this a long time career.

now i am talking at a standpoint of doing your own business, i am not sure of what the situation is as an employee. i did some event planning for about a year and i never had to hire an employee my events were between 200-1000 guests, so getting a “job” in an event planning company may be more difficult.

    goodluck!

Start small, plan kids parties, and parties for friends. You need to have a good imagination. Start making up a contacts file of all the businesses in your area that have things you will need when planning a party like, Party Hire and Venues, different activities on offer in your area, eg. bowling, go-carts,lazer games, night clubs, paint ball. And visit all these Where to get flowers and other decorations. Visit bridal fairs and trade shows…… e-mail me via my profile if you want to chat about it more as Im in the events industry but not a full time party planner. I started my own business from scratch.
