I’m planning a slumber party for my daughter who is turning 9. For the party I’m planning girly activities, movies and snacks. They can stay up as late as they can, sleep or go home if they want. But here is my dilemma. I was only planning on inviting girls my daughter’s age. I was not planning on having their parents staying also. Doesn’t a slumber party mean that you drop off your child and let her spend the night or pick her up later if she wants to go home?

That’s what I thought. Did another parent ask to stay?
I have had a lot of slumber parties and my friends parents never stayed
Yes a slumber party means that the kids are dropped off at a certain time and picked up the next day at a certain time. Sometimes children will be scared if it is their first sleep over so the parents might say to call if they want to come home but other than that the parents just leave them with you and they are your responsibility until pickup time.
they should go. if they dnt feel comfotable with there kid being with other kids, they shouldnt put them trough that
you can offer this option to the parents.
Yes, a slumber party is for the girls not the parents!
Yes it is a drop off unless the parent/mom is a good friend of yours staying to help out
I have never had other parents stay when I was at a slumber party. To avoid confusion when you invite them let them know the pick up time and that should let them know. You could also ask them to leave a number to reach them at in case the child wants to go home, this should make them feel more comfortable also.
I’ve never been to a slumber party where the parents stayed.
No, parents. The party is for the girls if the parent is going to stay you should let them know now that it is not necessary for them to spend the night.
a slumber party is definitely only for the kids but at least one responsible adult has to be there at all times (obviously). you sound like some of the adults expect to be included. you need to set the record straight right away so they decide whether or not to let their kid attend, and you also need to let them know they have to come get her if she can’t handle being away from them overnight. good luck.
I would say since you gave them the option of going home, that should be enough! If a parent is really unsure about their kid staying over, that’s their problem.
I would nicely and creatively tell the parents “no”.
I have hosted 4 slumber partys. Never has a parent asked to stay. If the parent is uncomfortable with leaving there child over night then they pick them up after the party. Its also a bit unhealty for the child of that parent. It may even make other children uncomfortable.
yea. the parents arent supposed to stay. there wouldnt be no point. thats dum if they wanna come. the kids might not have a good time if their parents are there. but yea ur right
What you explained … is exactly what a slumber party is.
Yeah, the parents usually don’t stay. Except one time when I stayed at a slumber party this girl had her mom stay…her mom like slept by her on the living room floor in a sleeping bag…it was kind of weird…and lame
no the parents go home and you are left with all the screams and fun that comes with a slumber party. also be warned if you have sons they will plan some nasty little gifts for the girls. my son and nephew had itchy powder in all the girls sleeping bags then to top it of they put fake spiders in the girls food. so have fun good luck.
Their parents shouldn’t stay, you will be there. Tell the parents that they can phone and talk to their daughters at any time, and reassure them that you will be supervising all of their activities.
yeah a slumber party is usually that, but you could invite the parents and have a night with them. usually you dont but you could if you wanted to, get to know them well
I have never heard of a slumber party where the parents stay also.
That’s a bit strange to me!! Definately no parents.
Any slumber party I ever stayed at was just for the girls as you have described.
That is weird! I have never heard of the parent’s staying also!
The parents do not stay, only the kids. Who told you that the parents stayed also?
I would not expect parents to stay if you say slumber party. They are 9 so they may stay for a coffee to make sure their child is comfortable then leave
